“Pioneering Regenerative Medicine with Stem Cell based GeneTherapy”

Haeyoung Suh-Kim, Ph.D graduated Seoul National University with a B.S. and M.S degrees in Microbiology.
After graduation, Dr. Suh-Kim developed her industrial career as a researcher in LG Life Sciences, one of the leading biotechnology companies in Korea.
In 1992 Dr. Suh-Kim received a Ph.D degree in Cell Biology from Baylor College of Medicine.
In 1995, she began her professorship at the Department of Anatomy in Ajou University,
School of Medicine and continue her position. She has developed an ex-vivo therapy for the treatment of glioblasoma using mesenchymal stem cells and transferred the technology to an industry in 2016. In 2018, she founded Cell&Brain, a bio-innovative company that develops mesenchymal stem cell based gene therapy.
She believes that mesenchymal stem cells can be an alternative to overcome targeting problem of gene therapy because they are highly mobile to damaged tissues or solid tumors. With experience from development of ex-vivo therapy for glioblastoma, she is developing mesenchymal stem cell-based gene therapy for the treatment of stroke patients who suffer from disabilities. Her research experience with a team of researchers who have developed mesenchymal stem cell based gene therapy for glioblastoma will help bring this new treatment for chronic stroke to the world.
